Gourock Curling Club

Welcome to the home of Gourock Curling Club. At least our virtual home. Our usual home and where our trophies are proudly displayed, is the Royal Gourock Yacht Club. Where our AGMs, club dinners and prize presentations are made.

Our fixtures are generally played in the Greenock Waterfront Ice Rink, with our season running between September and March.

If you’re brand new to curling and just want to give it a go. Please get in touch, we’re a friendly club always looking for new members.

Our Leagues & Cups

Gourock Curling Club takes part in a wide variety of competitions. These competitions are organised by the following groups:

Internal competitions organised by Gourock CC


Campbell Cup and Fletcher Trophy

The main league that takes place over a whole season. This competition takes the form of a league, and from October to December each team will play against each other once in a qualifying league. The top teams then compete for the Campbell Cup and the bottom teams for the Fletcher Trophy these two league competitions run from February to March and each team will play against each other once. The skip of the rink that finishes bottom of the Fletcher Trophy and all players get demoted one position for the next season.


Woodhead League

This league takes place in January and all players move up one position in their rink. In recent years the skip of the winning rink gains promotion to skip for the following season.


The Melville Trophy

A knock out cup competition and in recent years has been played at the start of the season.


The following competitions are run by Renfrewshire Province and Gourock usually enters one team in each.


Rams Head

Usually played in a round robin league at Greenacres, with the winner of each section going on to the final knockout stages.


Barratt Cup

This is a straight knock out competition usually played at Greenacres.


Shand Harvie

This competition involves two teams from each club entered and the combined score of these teams will decide the winner. This usually takes place over two days at Greenacres.


Other Leagues


Super League

The Waterfront Ice Rink organises a competition called the Super League, and each club can enter up to two teams of 6 players. This league takes place on a Thursday evening with each team playing against the other once.


The Rink Championship

Scottish Curling organise various competitions that the club takes part in. The Rink Championship is for the winning team from each Ice Rink and usually takes the format of a Round Robin league followed by knock out stages usually held at Forfar Ice Rink in March. 


Scottish Championships

The Scottish Championships is open to all clubs to find the best rink in the country. The Masters Championships open to players of age 55 and over, the Grand Masters open to players age 70 and over.

Worldwide

The club have taken part in competitions abroad. Chamonix in Switzerland, Nuchatelle in Italy, Las Vegas in the USA, Puigcerda in Spain these competitions are great fun to take part in and we have formed lasting friendships with many clubs from abroad.
